Silhouette
The beginnings of my passion for silhouette began during morning and evening encounters with stunning backlit tableaus displayed by nature: A tree against pink dawn skies. Or an old barn, falling apart, revealing a fiery sunset through it's cracks and crevices.
Later, I discovered that what can't be captured by a lens can be painted in ink. Jan Pienkowski is the best I know of. He guards his illustrations ferociously. Few are to be found on the internet, but here are a few:
I first encountered him through Fairy Tales and The First Christmas. His books first motivated to me to try my hand at my own illustrations. I've since discovered Karin Dickel-Jonasch as well:
But though these great artists have done wonders with black and white, my mind holds things they have never put to paper. I intend to produce those things in due course. Sneak peek:
