even lanterns complete. Finally. It feels good. The order came in a few months ago for a September wedding. I was asked to make custom lanterns to represent each member of the bridal party. An annual trip to the orchard with a sister. A friend who loves road trips. A wedding in Mexico. . .

Such a quirky tale. One of the darker fairy tales coming out of Scotland, left unedited by time. There's a nasty giant, a brave girl, and a prince to marry. . . I was asked to recreate two scenes for this lantern. The first: Molly fleeing from the giant across the "one-hair bridge." The second: Molly peeking at the giant's castle from the cover of the trees. I found this a challenging lantern for two reasons: 1. I am not very adept at sketching people. 2. I was asked to make Molly's cape RED. That is not easy to do while trying to maintain a bold silhouette. So, the final result is not perfect, but I think it captures the tale.

"Providence Rhode Island" Lantern

The Commission: To capture Providence's, "great buildings, or images reflecting it's dynamic street scene..." A special request was made to incorporate the building Tazza occupies, the City Hall and dancing people, as seen in my previous "Foss Hill" lantern. "Good energy," apparently.

Colour Scheme:
And I quote: "Pratt and Lambert poppy petal orange walls, chocolate brown velvet settees, with pillows of dupioni Como silk in tibetan orange, gold and snap pea green, fern green linen tablecloths, and brick red cotton velour drapes."
